"Run, Forrest, Run!"

Okay, so I am not Forrest, but I sure felt like him this morning! My friend Sierra and her husband Dan came over this morning. Why? Dan is a runner, and I am about to take a physical fitness test for the Sheriff's office...let's face it..the last time I ran...and ran well, was about four years ago when Jason and I were running four miles a day..we were trying to look good for our wedding..lol.
Anyway, Sierra was SO gracious to let me borrow her husband this morning, while she took a load off in the house and watched Colt for me. (Jason and Jacob took a trip to the game store.) I was a bit nervous...this man had just gotten done running 12 miles before he came over here...12 miles!!! I thought, "great...I am going to look like a complete fool in front of this guy!" Luckily, he was very understanding and and really nice about it.

We of course, started off by stretching..I have to be honest..I usually don't stretch as much if I am running by myself, but I knew I needed to change that. So we stretched..

I have to be able to run 1.5 miles in about 15 minutes. Sounds do-able, huh? Not so much...I thought I would die! But I didn't. Dan was really good at keeping me motivated and when I told him I felt like I needed to stop, he pushed me not to, or gave me tips to make it easier to continue running and be comfortable, but not stop. I wanted to.. hurt.. thank him for that! :)

I am proud to report that I ran this distance in like, 19 minutes...yes Dan and Sierra, I said 19, not 20! I was being a bit pessimistic about it...but by the time they got ready to leave (and after Dan corrected me a ga-zillion times) I was giving myself a little more credit! Dan also helped me with my sit-ups (which I was surprised I could still do!) and my push-ups. I hate push-ups. But I did them..fifteen of them..more than I think I have ever done in my entire life!

Dan is an exceptional runner! I was amazed at his ability to not even be out of breathe...how I wish I had that! But, he pointed something out...about my stretching. I was telling him how good of a runner he was, and that I could never be able to do anything that great...he told me how awesome it was that I was able to stretch to the extent I did (speaking about my flexibility.) I said "please...that's nothing, your running is great!" To which he responded, "yeah, but I have been working on this for like 7 or 8 years...it takes practice." "Just like your flexibility in your stretching." Wow...he was right...not to brag, but I ampretty darn flexible...even after my old age, having two kids, and not being anywhere near as active as I was ten years ago! I guess those 12 years of cheerleading and dancing paid off!

That really made me feel good. I get so down on myself sometimes for not having a "thing" about me that is kind of cool, or different...thanks Dan!

I am looking forward to getting up and running in the mornings, and making this part of my daily routine. I have always loved running..but never really pushed myself to do it. I felt so comfortable and loose after our run today..."light and airy" is what I called it. I felt empowered. It was awesome....and I am very grateful to both Dan and Sierra.

I know Sierra took some pictures, but I will have to wait until Monday to post them...I am pretty sure they are funny and you will get a kick outta them..so come back then to check it out!

Much love.

It's dark!!!

Well, I have gone back to having dark hair!! I have been so blonde for so long, I needed a change! Lately, I have been cutting my hair super short for a change...now I am wanting to grow it back out...but I still needed a change. So I decided to go dark...again.

The times I tried this before, it looked awful. But I am pleased to say I absolutely LOVE the outcome this time around! I think I will be keeping it like this for a while!

On another note...I applied for the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office. I got the rest of my application process in the mail last week. I am excited, but not sure at the same time. I applied just to see what would happen (yes, I am interested in it as well)

I am set to take the physical part of the test a week from today...15 sit ups, 15 push ups, carrying 25 lbs. so many yards, and carrying, dragging or whatever, 100 lbs. so many yards. All within like 2 1/2 minutes.

Um, yeah...it's been a LONG time since I was that physical! LOL! I figured I'd give it a whirl. I have been looking for something different, but not actively. I honestly didn't think I would get a response from the Sheriff's office. The process doesn't guarantee me anything though...but I guess we will see. It will definitely be an experience! I will keep you posted!

Much love.

The "Feather"

Yesterday marked the last day of this year's state fair. Jason and I haven't been since we were in high school. But, he decided to surprise me and the boys with a trip to the fair! Jacob calls it the "feather"....don't ask, because I have no clue! LOL I had no idea we were going there, so my apologies to anyone whom I may have scared off..I had no makeup on!

Anyway...we didn't really go to ride the rides, as the boys are still too short for any of them. We went for the food, the zoo and all the other exhibits they have out there. We sat down to eat hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches and drink on a DP. After that we headed into the exhibits.

It's pretty much full of vendors trying to sell either purses, jewelry, timeshares or some other type of thing. In the back though, there was a spot for the Sheriff's office, which I stopped at. I grabbed up an application...I always thought it would be awesome to work in the law enforcement! I turned it in the other day, but haven't heard anything..not quite sure on the whole process.

The boys enjoyed the zoo, we actually got to watch the elephants in a little show....Jacob was patiently waiting...

After that, we walked down the midway and checked out the games and other vendors. We also went into the States exhibit museum. After that, I was pretty much parched, so we headed over to the .75 cent sweet tea booth. I usually don't drink sweet tea...actually I NEVER drink it...but it was really really good! We ran into Veronica (Jason's sister) and niece and chatted for a bit. Then we headed for home...

..but before that I managed to get a few pics of the boys..

catching Colt by surprise..

and actually getting a somewhat decent picture of the two of them..

Much love.

Housewarming!

So my step-mother-in-law is throwing me a housewarming party the weekend after next! I am kind of excited, but kind of not. Why? Because the kitchen counters still haven't been replaced and neither has the foyer and kitchen floor.

Oh, the floor isn't that bad...it's just not our style..and don't even get me started on the counter tops, YUCK! We just haven't gotten the extra money yet to finish those little things. Oh, and the landscaping in the front yard still hasn't been re-done. All in due time....all in due time.

So you can see why I am a bit anxious about the party. I am sure no one will care...almost everyone will probably understand that it takes time to get everything in order..and after all....we do have 30 years! LOL! Anyway...I have made a few things that my friend Sierra helped with, and for that I am very grateful.

At least my guests will have some pretty things to look at!! I made name blocks for both the boys rooms, and "BOO" blocks to decorate for Halloween. I also made a Thanksgiving one as well...take a look! I am very proud and THANKS SIERRA!

Much love.

Trick or Treat!

I have been terribly bad about blogging lately....and especially since I have SO much to blog about! So, here is my Halloween blog!

I dressed up as a punk rocker for work...well..it was my attempt at dressing up like a punk rocker! LOL! A few others dressed up, but I didn't get pictures with all of them. My friend Sierra was a Candy Corn witch! Too cute!

My boys were just as precious as ever! We made sloppy joes (courtesy of Sug!) for dinner that night and got ready for trick or treating in the neighborhood. Here are some pictures of the boys...

As you can see...Colt decided to dash off mid-picture snapping....what a cute little picture it made for though!
We got more than enough candy to last til next Halloween, and Jacob even said "trick or treat" at every door! Colt managed to spit out something that sounded kind of like that a few times as well!
We were only out for an hour and made it home just in time for bedtime...although it took a while to get them settled (imagine that!)
So, for now..Halloween is over with....only, Jacob keeps asking to go trick or treating every night when I am putting him to bed!

Much love.

I know it's been a while!

Ugh, it has been a while since I posted last..the reason....ILLNESS!!

The boys were sick with sinus stuff, then my husband got sick..then...me! It started with a sore throat on a Friday night..through the night I could feel my throat closing up..I knew it was coming. Saturday was horrible, Sunday was worse! Now...I have no voice, going on 2 days! I never loose my voice! You can imagine how it has been trying to parent without a voice....the boys just laugh at me. LOL!
Anyway, we have done some Halloween costume shopping in the last two weeks...we tried some things on for fun...

Jacob trying the "Robin" mask on...he looks kinda scary actually. Jason says he looks like Elton John!

Colt trying on the "Superman" costume and loving it!

The plan was Colt as Superman and Jacob as Batman...but of course, once we went back the costumes were gone. We improvised...Jacob is now going to be a Scarecrow and Colt a Spider! They are TOO cute! After tomorrow, I will post those pictures!

I hope everyone has a safe and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Much love.

Texas or Bust!

The weekend before last, Jason got me and the boys up and told us to get dressed. I wondered what he had up his sleeve...although his only response was, "can't you just sit back and ride?" LOL, so that is what I did..but Jacob kept asking, "where we going momma?" To which Jason and I just replied, "we're taking a trip!"

We drove past the Texas state line and I begin to really wonder what was going on. I finally got Jason to tell me (right before we got there) that we were going to Longview, for a change of scenery, which was indeed nice. "Besides," he said, "they have an Academy Sports here with lots of Longhorns stuff." A ha!!!! So that's what his motive was! Not that I mind at all, of course. Getting out of Shreveport was nice. We got something to eat at Burger King and ventured over to Academy. We browsed their selection of Texas Longhorns stuff and Jacob hung around his daddy, while Colt stayed in the buggy with me. We got ready to wrap up, but Jacob would not come to me or Jason! We couldn't figure out why....well, this is what we saw...
...when Jason finally wrangled him... immediately, I saw this look on Jason's face..well....Jacob apparently was using the clothes rack as his personal space to um, well...ya know...go #2! LOL! It was quite funny! Anyway, I changed Jacob in the "cunk" (trunk) of the car, while Colt and and Jason checked out with the goods. We ventured to the mall for a short bit, and then made our way home to Shreveport after the boys started to get a bit irritable.

All in all, it was a great trip. Jacob wouldn't cooperate, but I managed to get a picture of Colt in his new gear!

Just call him "Cowboy Colt!" PRECIOUS!

Much love.

Inner struggle

Things haven't been all the grand lately. Well, I take that back..they have been for the most part, but there are moments when those sad or bad moods creep into my life.

I am having one of those right now. I feel bad. I feel like I am torn....there are so many people in my life that do so much for me and I feel like I don't or will never do enough to show them how much I appreciate them. I mean, I genuinely appreciate everyone that has done something for me ...in the past few weeks in particular. They know who they are..

I just feel bad...I don't have any special service to offer them...no skills..not even time. My life is so consumed with working til 5, then taking care of kids and household things, that at the end of the day, I am beat. I don't give enough time to Jason and that bothers me. I feel like I don't give enough time to the boys...and my parents, sister, brothers and extremely close friends? Don't eve get me started on that! I feel like I am drowning in a sea of never-ending PPD. I hate it.

I need a makeover...I need my niche' in life. I am tired of not feeling valued in certain regards..and that makes my performance there crappy...and that is NOT me!

I just hope that things fall into place soon...I feel so lost.

Much love.

New house pics!

So I finally took some pictures of the new house! They are a little blurry and dark...but you get the idea..the first picture is the "before" picutre and the one below is the "after" ENJOY!

Much love.

Almost settled!

This past weekend I made a vow to have both of our bathrooms in working order. I had finally gotten tired of showering in one bathroom and "pottying" in another! LOL

Well, I got it done...sorta. The toliet in the hall bath still needs to be repaired. That is Jason's job, and he's just been busy trying to keep the yard free of bugs and other creepy crawly animals.

Our bathroom is i full working order, other than not having a mirror..oh and did I mention that the wall outlets in BOTH bathrooms for some reason DO NOT work? They worked when the inspector came...so I have no clue what is wrong now. Currently, I am drying and fixing my hair in the hall bathroom, using and extension cord plugged into the living room wall. I can't dry my hair without using a mirror..I have no clue why!

Other than that the only other thing in the house that needs to be done is have the kitchen counters replaced (they are horribly ugly) and the kitchen and foyer (front hall for my yankee friends) replaced. It's all in good condition, just ugly as all get out! LOL!

Anyway, the house is always picked up at the end of the day, and I am enjoying very much having a home. We are hoping to add some landscaping soon before the fall season is over with! I guess I really need to post some pics of the new house. I'll try and and snap some tonight!

Much love.

Craft night!

LOOK WHAT I MADE!!!

Ok, so I had a little help! Last night a friend of mine was so gracious to come over and help me get started on a few craft projects. See, she has this awesome thing called an vinyl lettering machine, it's quite neat! Anyway...when I saw what she made a few days ago for a Halloween decoration, I decided that I just HAD to make some things of my own..if she would let me! LOL!

We sat down and came up with some really cute ideas and put our plan into action. I was so excited that she was going to help me with this, because having just moved into a new house, I need some new decorative things, and especially some more fall decorations! YAY FOR FALL! LOL!

So she came over last night with all the supplies and we got to work on a piece to hang in our foyer to hang the boys bags on AND maybe a jackets and keys! I was super excited and very grateful to my friend. The boys were grateful as well, they got to help paint some blocks that will go in their rooms. I was trying to be very patient with them, but it is sometimes hard when they want to get into everything...you just worry that something crazy might happen, so you just kind of avoid it at all costs by not letting them do ANYTHING! That just wasn't the case last night!

Anyway, we got done with only one project, which was fine! We have plenty of chances to finish up the other things. I just hope that my friend knows how thankful I am to her for this!

Much love.

Kids really do listen!

Okay, so I stayed home from work Tuesday and wouldn't you know..our house phone was off for some reason. Anyway, all my calls came through my cell phone that day...

Well, my ringtone is Guns 'n' Roses, "Welcome to the Jungle," well because that is my life...a jungle..lol! Anyway, while my phone was ringing away my life's' anthem, I heard Jacob saying something to likes of, "na, na, na, na knees, knees!" Well, I quickly realize that he is singing "Welcome to the Jungle!" I answer the phone laughing my butt of! It was by far the funniest thing I have ever heard! The next time my phone rang, Colt had caught on and they BOTH were singing it! Hilarious!

I swear those two keep me in stitches!

Much love.

What a wonderful weekend!

This past weekend was awesome I have to say! We are still unpacking and organizing our new home, but it is coming along quite well!

Friday we had our weekly pizza night at Johnny's, yum! Our friend Mark showed up to join us, as he usually does. He and Jason stayed and drank a pitcher of beer and did "man things,' whatever that is..and the boys and I went to Wal-Mart.

Yes, that is our favorite thing to do...not really. We had to pick up some things, so we went and lolly-gagged in all the home furnishing aisles for a bit. I wanted to buy so many things for our new home! But, I couldn't...one day soon though! We made it home and got the boys ready for bed and went to bed ourselves.

Saturday morning I went to pick up Jason's grandma so she could come see the house and visit for a bit. The boys welcomed her with open arms, it was really heartwarming to see that. I took her back home and realized that I never got the opportunity to drive my Nana around like that. It made me miss her at that point and time...

...I got home and talked to mom and Layla...we decided to go to Ellis Pottery for their huge fall sale. My mom and sister got mums to put in the yard. My mom also got a bail of hay 4 HUGE pumpkins and a scarecrow to put out in their front yard..too cute! Again, I wanted SO many things..but couldn't buy them this time around. We returned home to get ready for dinner and bathe and go to bed. You can see the boys were thrilled.....

Sunday was great! We ran a few errands and once home, Jason and the boys went out in the backyard to clean it up while I folded laundry...did I mention our washer is broken?? Yeah, that bites royally. I have had to wash clothes at my mom and dads...thanks to them though!

Jacob and Colt had SO much fun with their daddy outside, but boy were they dirty when they came in! I cleaned them up for lunch and got them down for a nap. Jason and I started to clean up the front yard again and sort through more boxes. We got a lot accomplished this weekend, but I still haven't been able to decorate the house with all my fall decorations....it's driving me nuts!!

Hopefully by the end of this week I will have them out!

Much love.

We're home!!

Gosh, I have been SO out of touch lately! I didn't realize that it has been a month since my last blog!
Most of you know that we moved into our first home this past weekend! We are very excited...and exhausted! At the same time RedRiverMoms.com (the site/magazine I work part-time for) went through a format change. None of the bloggers have their blogs listed on the site anymore, so I made this one a bit more personal for all to keep up with us. I hope you enjoy it!

I thought I would die without the Internet this weekend! I couldn't get on to see the new going ons of the new RRmoms site, and I certainly couldn't check email. Not that I would have responded to any of them, you all know how bad I am at that! BUT, that doesn't mean I don't think about those who try to contact me often. Life has just been chaotic for quite some time now, and even more so with trying to set up a new house...but we're getting there!

I am looking forward to not having to climb stairs with TWO little boys! Lol! Keeping up with them while trying to get up the stairs was always a challenge..now I have to keep up with them so they don't run into the street!

We have several children in culd-e-sac that the boys have already been befriended by, and it warms my heart! Every time Jacob and Colt get out of the car, they take off running into the neighbors yard, where the other kids are usually out playing in. Every since day one, they have been welcomed right in! It makes a mom proud! Just the other night while trying to fix dinner, the doorbell rang. Jason husband assumed it was one of his buddies, but after the doorbell kept going off, I knew it couldn't have been.

Jason came into the kitchen to tell me, "they kids want to know if Jacob and Colt can come out and play." I tell ya...that just melted my heart! How sweet is that?? We haven't been there a week and the boys are getting asked to come outside and play! We went outside, and they had a blast. They played with kids of all ages from 8 yrs to 5 yrs. It was great to see them get along with the neighborhood kids so well!

Jason and I are still adjusting to the fact that we have a home. We never, in a million years thought this was possible..but here we are...making this house a home! It truly is a blessing!

We hope to have family and friends over soon to check it out! Keep coming back here...I should be good to go now with updating my blog!

Much love.
