I'm a regular Martha Stewart!

I few blogs ago, I showed you the cowboy bathroom that my friend and I did for my two boys. It is absolutely tooooo cute! I had a couple of other things I wanted to do with the bathroom, but just ran out of time that weekend ....

One of the things was to make a cowboy-ish picture of some sort. I had a frame, a piece of particle board to play with, some western themed scrapbook paper, but could never put it all together the right way.

Well, upon having a monthly GNO (girl's night out) at my house two weekends ago, I was desperate to do something with it. So I started brainstorming. I had some left over denim fabric from the jeans that were cut up and put on the shower curtain. I knew those had to be used for something...so I took that, the frame, particle board, scrapbook paper and some good ol' rope and came up with this...

Sorry for the glare (I'm not a professional picture taker)... and here is a close up of the frame...

Yup, I just mod podged scrapbook paper on that board, glued that denim fabric down on the frame, and then hot glued some rope on the lines where the scrapbook paper overlapped! I was pretty proud of myself, thankyouverymuch.

Much love.

Picture day!

I have decided to a "picture of the day OR week" thing on my blog...I just can't decide if I want to make it "picture of the week" or "picture of the day" and on the same day of every week post the "picture of the day." Help me out here, please! I can never make a decision on my own, so my hubby tells me...

Anyway, I am not a photographer, nor do I aspire to be one. Theses are just pictures that I feel are too good/funny/insightful/weird/etc., and so on, not to share!

Also, I am looking for a clever title to these posts, so help me out here too, please!

I leave you with my first installment...

Rainy day project

I set out Saturday morning with a project that I have been wanting to get done for a while now...

My mom got some bunk beds off of craigslist for the boys. They were a steal, and would be awesome re-finished. So, today, my sister and I started on the project, considering the fact that Colt is now too tall for his toddler bed!

It was a rainy day on Saturday, so we had to resort to using the garage to do this project. No big deal, other than I couldn't really send the boys outside to play while my sister and I did the bed. The boys weren't all that bad though...just regular ol' boys wanting to play or help with the painting...

Jacob was pretty darned adamant about wanting to help paint. The "crafter/projector in me was screaming no, but the mom in me was also screaming no, because of the potential mess. He did pretty good though and it made him happy, so what the hay?!

Colt was trying to escape manual labor, apparently he has caught on that painting is work, not fun! Hahahaha!

We kind of went into the project with the idea of how easy it was going to be...we were blindsided when we saw that we would have to paint several coats to cover the bed. It was hard work, but luckily the ran kept a nice breeze coming and it really wasn't all that bad.
I finished up the last 3 (4, 5 and 6) coats of paint on Sunday myself. We were going to try and get the bed up that night, but it turned out to be a pretty day, so we busied ourselves with laundry (well, I did) and playing outside later in the day.
Hopefully Jason can get it put up this week with the help from my sister when she comes to watch the boys Wednesday night until he gets in from work (remember, I am in class!)
I forgot to take a picture of the finished paint job, but will get that on here when we set the bed up...should be this weekend at the latest!
p.s. thanks mom and layla!
Much love.

So much (I want) to do, so little time!

I have much I want to do this weekend, other than cleaning.

I want to re finish the bunk beds that my mom found for a steal for the boys room, which means, sanding, painting and drying. I want to finish getting all the junk out of the garage I couldn't get last weekend, so it can be some sorts of a "hang out" place when the boys want to go outside when it is raining. I want to get hanging plants to put up on the front porch. I would love to do some more crafting, which by the way I did another piece for the boys' cowboy bathroom last weekend....too cute! But, I keep forgetting to take a picture of it! I'll do that tonight and post it then, or tomorrow.

I would looooooooove to start on the master bathroom, painting the walls and cabinets and sealing the floor...Jason may not let me do all this...he tends to get a little anxious when I do home improvement projects on my own! BUT, I intend on starting for sure!

I also want to make a headboard for our bed..it's been years since we have had one. Ohhhh..I also want to re-do our dresser and chester drawers! Ummm, also, depending on the bunk bed situation, I may move the boys from the room they are in, to the game room. The layout is much better for two twin size beds!
Yup, it is time for Colt to have a "big boy" bed! He is now officially too tall for the toddler bed (at least that's what the papers on the underside of the bed say!)

Soooo, lots I want to do this weekend! Of course, you got to have money to do it all...but I think I can thrift shop it....I have been tuning into "A Soft Place to Land" and "Thrifty Decor Chick" a lot lately and they have given me several ideas! Thanks girls!!

I can't wait to show you what I accomplish this weekend...

...did I mention I have to fit in homework somewhere in all my "I want to do's??"

Yeah...

Much love.

Take your kids to work day!

Yesterday, I had the boys at my office for a little bit. Gosh, that was an adventure. The last time I had to have them here with me, they weren't quite as mischievous...but now they have grown to be little explorers.

I set them up a little area and used boxes as "desks" and gave them some paper, pens and stamps to play "office" with. They enjoyed themselves, which was made evident by their squeals and smiles...as well as the broken stamp I now have! Oh well!

I was able to snap some picture of them, but not many...as they were perched on top of my desk!
They are such cuties!

And my favortie...
brothers and best friends for life!

Much love.

"Wrasslin'"

Know what wrasslin' is?

This is wrasslin'...

...better known as wrestling to those of you who aren't too familiar with the southern slang

Yup,TNA Wrestling came to town last night, and I had no intention on going or taking the boys, but Jason was going to go. Of course, he asked when we got home if we wanted to, I declined

But, after he left Jacob literally BEGGED to go to "wrasslin" and yes, he said it just like that. So, after much drama, I called Jason and told him we were headed that way. Fun.

So without further a-do...here are some highlights...

the cotton candy we just HAD to get...

Jacob and Colt waiting for the matches to start...

Daddy and Colt watching intently...

Daddy and Jacob watching...

sharing the drink...

Colty digging the action...

Jacob having a good time!

All in all, they really had a good time, although at the end of the night, the breakdowns started to happen. They were tired and it was late, but we managed to work through the fits and stay and watch the main event. They were happy campers!

Much Love.

Speeding?? Me?? Never!

Do you know what this is?

A ticket. Know what kind of ticket? A speeding ticket. Nice. The set a speed trap in a residential area close to where I live...and I know they do this often...and I even thought about it today driving down the doomed road. But did it stop me from speeding? No. Truth is, I travel this route probably once a week, IF that.

Little motorcycle cops hiding in the trees (not up in the trees, but behind a cluster of them) ever so nicely walking out into the street with a sign that says "stop" on it. I thought for a second maybe, just maybe, I'd get let off with a warning. Nope. But the nice officer did tell me I could keep it from going on my record by calling "such and such number" and that they would walk me though the process of how to do that.

No thanks.

I don't have time for that. So this ticket will be going on my record. I have been fortunate the last two or three times to have one of my attorney's get it knocked down to a non-moving violation, but I have since decided I don't want to ask him for anymore favors.

I haven't even called to see the loverly fine. Yes, I said loverly. So what.

On the flip side, I saw on my camera today that Jacob practiced his photog skills....you will be impressed...

finger shot..

two finger shot... forehead shot... now we got an eyeball... front door (sorry, a little dirty) nice floor shot...
Call me if you want your family portraits done.

Much love.
