It's been a LONG time..

Wow, so it has been almost 2 months since I last blogged! It hasn't all been fun in that time...so to anyone who faithfully reads my blog, I sincerely apologize! I will do my best to get you up to speed!

I haven't blogged much, because right after Thanksgiving, both the boys got pretty sick with a tummy virus, which lasted FOREVER, then those turned into strep throat, then to colds, and eventually ear infections. Yeah, not a very fun holiday season, I know..but we made the best of it, like we always do.

After the first of the year, Colt was still so bad off, I decided to take him to the Ear, Nose & Throat doctor at the request of his pediatrician (and myself). The ENT confirmed that he indeed needed to have his tonsils and adenoids taken out, due to the size of them and him not being able to breathe properly. So off we went to the surgery center.

That has been one week ago today Colt had surgery...do you think he is better? No, actually the ENT doctor found a major ear infection in Colt's right ear, and decided instead of putting tubes in, he would just cut the ear drum and let it drain....well....he shoulda put tubes in. Why?
ONE: because he said so himself after we had to take him back Tuesday afternoon for still not drinking and having a fever, and
TWO: he STILL has fluid on his ears as of this past Friday!! He is miserable. And to make matters worse, Jacob went to the the pedi doctore on Tuesday and came back with and ear AND eye infection! So they have both been filled up with a "super" anti-biotic, which hasn't started working yet. They are absolutely MISERABLE! They don't eat, sleep, or mind. They hurt!

Their pediatrician is out today, so when she returns my call tomorrow, I am going to talk to her about getting tubes in both their ears. I am hoping that this really helps them to feel better. I just can't take it anymore....seeing them hurt is awful!

Other than that, Christmas and the New Year was good to us. Did I mention that Colt had to be rushed to his pedi's office Christmas Eve after sticking his finger in a hole on a table at Old Navy?? Completely ripping the skin off the knuckle??? Yeah, it bled like no body's business....luckily the doctor's office is right down the street, so I just rushed him in there where they just glued it shut...it didn't really need stitches. Their pediatrician rocks like that!

So.....now you can see why I haven't blogged lately! Pretty fun stuff, huh? :) Anyway, hopefully I am back on track now! The next few posts will prob just be pictures snapped during Christmas and such! I hope you enjoy and come back!

Much love.

"Run, Forrest, Run!"

Okay, so I am not Forrest, but I sure felt like him this morning! My friend Sierra and her husband Dan came over this morning. Why? Dan is a runner, and I am about to take a physical fitness test for the Sheriff's office...let's face it..the last time I ran...and ran well, was about four years ago when Jason and I were running four miles a day..we were trying to look good for our wedding..lol.
Anyway, Sierra was SO gracious to let me borrow her husband this morning, while she took a load off in the house and watched Colt for me. (Jason and Jacob took a trip to the game store.) I was a bit nervous...this man had just gotten done running 12 miles before he came over here...12 miles!!! I thought, "great...I am going to look like a complete fool in front of this guy!" Luckily, he was very understanding and and really nice about it.

We of course, started off by stretching..I have to be honest..I usually don't stretch as much if I am running by myself, but I knew I needed to change that. So we stretched..

I have to be able to run 1.5 miles in about 15 minutes. Sounds do-able, huh? Not so much...I thought I would die! But I didn't. Dan was really good at keeping me motivated and when I told him I felt like I needed to stop, he pushed me not to, or gave me tips to make it easier to continue running and be comfortable, but not stop. I wanted to.. hurt.. thank him for that! :)

I am proud to report that I ran this distance in like, 19 minutes...yes Dan and Sierra, I said 19, not 20! I was being a bit pessimistic about it...but by the time they got ready to leave (and after Dan corrected me a ga-zillion times) I was giving myself a little more credit! Dan also helped me with my sit-ups (which I was surprised I could still do!) and my push-ups. I hate push-ups. But I did them..fifteen of them..more than I think I have ever done in my entire life!

Dan is an exceptional runner! I was amazed at his ability to not even be out of breathe...how I wish I had that! But, he pointed something out...about my stretching. I was telling him how good of a runner he was, and that I could never be able to do anything that great...he told me how awesome it was that I was able to stretch to the extent I did (speaking about my flexibility.) I said "please...that's nothing, your running is great!" To which he responded, "yeah, but I have been working on this for like 7 or 8 years...it takes practice." "Just like your flexibility in your stretching." Wow...he was right...not to brag, but I ampretty darn flexible...even after my old age, having two kids, and not being anywhere near as active as I was ten years ago! I guess those 12 years of cheerleading and dancing paid off!

That really made me feel good. I get so down on myself sometimes for not having a "thing" about me that is kind of cool, or different...thanks Dan!

I am looking forward to getting up and running in the mornings, and making this part of my daily routine. I have always loved running..but never really pushed myself to do it. I felt so comfortable and loose after our run today..."light and airy" is what I called it. I felt empowered. It was awesome....and I am very grateful to both Dan and Sierra.

I know Sierra took some pictures, but I will have to wait until Monday to post them...I am pretty sure they are funny and you will get a kick outta them..so come back then to check it out!

Much love.

It's dark!!!

Well, I have gone back to having dark hair!! I have been so blonde for so long, I needed a change! Lately, I have been cutting my hair super short for a change...now I am wanting to grow it back out...but I still needed a change. So I decided to go dark...again.

The times I tried this before, it looked awful. But I am pleased to say I absolutely LOVE the outcome this time around! I think I will be keeping it like this for a while!

On another note...I applied for the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office. I got the rest of my application process in the mail last week. I am excited, but not sure at the same time. I applied just to see what would happen (yes, I am interested in it as well)

I am set to take the physical part of the test a week from today...15 sit ups, 15 push ups, carrying 25 lbs. so many yards, and carrying, dragging or whatever, 100 lbs. so many yards. All within like 2 1/2 minutes.

Um, yeah...it's been a LONG time since I was that physical! LOL! I figured I'd give it a whirl. I have been looking for something different, but not actively. I honestly didn't think I would get a response from the Sheriff's office. The process doesn't guarantee me anything though...but I guess we will see. It will definitely be an experience! I will keep you posted!

Much love.

The "Feather"

Yesterday marked the last day of this year's state fair. Jason and I haven't been since we were in high school. But, he decided to surprise me and the boys with a trip to the fair! Jacob calls it the "feather"....don't ask, because I have no clue! LOL I had no idea we were going there, so my apologies to anyone whom I may have scared off..I had no makeup on!

Anyway...we didn't really go to ride the rides, as the boys are still too short for any of them. We went for the food, the zoo and all the other exhibits they have out there. We sat down to eat hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches and drink on a DP. After that we headed into the exhibits.

It's pretty much full of vendors trying to sell either purses, jewelry, timeshares or some other type of thing. In the back though, there was a spot for the Sheriff's office, which I stopped at. I grabbed up an application...I always thought it would be awesome to work in the law enforcement! I turned it in the other day, but haven't heard anything..not quite sure on the whole process.

The boys enjoyed the zoo, we actually got to watch the elephants in a little show....Jacob was patiently waiting...

After that, we walked down the midway and checked out the games and other vendors. We also went into the States exhibit museum. After that, I was pretty much parched, so we headed over to the .75 cent sweet tea booth. I usually don't drink sweet tea...actually I NEVER drink it...but it was really really good! We ran into Veronica (Jason's sister) and niece and chatted for a bit. Then we headed for home...

..but before that I managed to get a few pics of the boys..

catching Colt by surprise..

and actually getting a somewhat decent picture of the two of them..

Much love.

Housewarming!

So my step-mother-in-law is throwing me a housewarming party the weekend after next! I am kind of excited, but kind of not. Why? Because the kitchen counters still haven't been replaced and neither has the foyer and kitchen floor.

Oh, the floor isn't that bad...it's just not our style..and don't even get me started on the counter tops, YUCK! We just haven't gotten the extra money yet to finish those little things. Oh, and the landscaping in the front yard still hasn't been re-done. All in due time....all in due time.

So you can see why I am a bit anxious about the party. I am sure no one will care...almost everyone will probably understand that it takes time to get everything in order..and after all....we do have 30 years! LOL! Anyway...I have made a few things that my friend Sierra helped with, and for that I am very grateful.

At least my guests will have some pretty things to look at!! I made name blocks for both the boys rooms, and "BOO" blocks to decorate for Halloween. I also made a Thanksgiving one as well...take a look! I am very proud and THANKS SIERRA!

Much love.

Trick or Treat!

I have been terribly bad about blogging lately....and especially since I have SO much to blog about! So, here is my Halloween blog!

I dressed up as a punk rocker for work...well..it was my attempt at dressing up like a punk rocker! LOL! A few others dressed up, but I didn't get pictures with all of them. My friend Sierra was a Candy Corn witch! Too cute!

My boys were just as precious as ever! We made sloppy joes (courtesy of Sug!) for dinner that night and got ready for trick or treating in the neighborhood. Here are some pictures of the boys...

As you can see...Colt decided to dash off mid-picture snapping....what a cute little picture it made for though!
We got more than enough candy to last til next Halloween, and Jacob even said "trick or treat" at every door! Colt managed to spit out something that sounded kind of like that a few times as well!
We were only out for an hour and made it home just in time for bedtime...although it took a while to get them settled (imagine that!)
So, for now..Halloween is over with....only, Jacob keeps asking to go trick or treating every night when I am putting him to bed!

Much love.
